there is no russian martial arts)) as no chechen or some other.
you cant call sambo, ARB russian style))) ,  because its combinations of different styles.

you see in countries where weapon was in use by everyone, wasnt so much styles. In russia, europa,  my country in all times everyone could cary swords, knifes and whatever. they have no need in karate, judo. thai-box.  There was wrestling, some sort of boxing but still no schools of MA.
but in feodal Asia only dukes, kings, generals or officers (higher class people ) could cary weapon (Japan, china), and people started to train something else. Karate was started in Okinava if i remember right....judo, ninjutsu...Kung-fu by monks. It is just theory but i believe that is not far from truth.

I'm afraid I dont understand your definition of what a "Martial Art" is. Anything that has to do with attack or defence (and training to do so) in any manner/way can be called a Martial Art.

Temmelig gammel tråd du drar frem her.. smile

Hello to everybody!

My first post on this forum and I didn't find better place for that than under Systema. I have moved to Oslo not long ago, and will be teaching some classes starting at 18.02. Here is the info: http://systema-oslo.com/

I've been Systema instructor for some years now, certified both by Vladimir Vasiliev and Mikhail Ryabko personally, with history in teaching seminars locally back home and in several countries. this is my MA biography in few words: http://www.sistemasrbija.rs/en/instructor

If there is anything I can answer related to training methodology or stuff, please ask. Just cut me some slack with language until I learn norsk.

Best regards

Very exciting!

Good luck. There are not many places to train Systema in Norway. This is good news for martial arts in Norway! ( :

Short about topics: "Knife attacks are the most dangerous group according to statistics worldwide. Knifes are easy accessible and basically everybody knows to "operate" a knife well enough to end a life.

Clean disarm in a knife fight especially against trained attacker is not likely. Getting out the knife fight without being cut or stabbed is not likely. But it is possible to survive the knife attack. Good training increases those changes. They are never 100% and thus we need to know how to deal with wounds as well.

Beside knife defense, chief instructor of Systema in Belgium, Koen Vandersteene will share some very important knowledge about first aid in case of slash-stab wounds. That life saving info is part of the curriculum known as "Combat Trauma".

Velkommen! Full info: https://www.facebook.com/events/754915604552618/
